First Baptist Church believes that children are important to the kingdom of God! Our children are led in many different ways by adults and youth who are visible examples of God’s love. Opportunities for faith formation are: Sunday morning Bible study, worship, missions, music, activities, trips, camps, fun, and fellowship. For more information about the Children’s Ministry at First Baptist Church Anderson please contact Amy Brown, Minister to Students.

 Sunday Morning Worship:

Sunday mornings begin at 9:30 am in the sanctuary. Children participating with adults in worship helps children develop a sense of belonging to a community and helps them develop their identity with the people of God as a person of God. Having children in worship encourages us to examine how we engage in worship, our faith, and with each other. They remind us that there isn’t a right way or one way to worship and to be open to the spontaneity of the Holy Spirit. They remind us that God is present in the messy-ness of our lives, giving us opportunity to reexamine the sacred and holy. They provide us lots of opportunities to exercise patience, grace, and love. A worship cart is provided in the Vestibule to keep little hands busy and hearts engaged in worship.

1st-5th graders may participate in worship to chime the Trinity on the organ or as an acolyte. For additional information, contact Amy Brown.

“The Rock” Sunday Morning Children’s Church:

The Rock is an interactive experience for Kindergarten through 3rd grade children that engages each child in the excitement of being God’s creation. We provide activities, snacks, and Bible study taught by a dedicated and talented teacher that relates Bible based life lessons that your child can understand and apply to their lives every day. The goal of The Rock is to give all children the tools and skills they need in the world to be true disciples for Christ.

Children leave the sanctuary with the teacher. Check the margins in the bulletin each Sunday to see if The Rock will be held. The Rock meets in room 329.

Vacation Bible School:

Children who have finished Kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to join us for VBS each summer. Our youth and adults work throughout the year to create a VBS theme and curriculum that promises to be a unique opportunity for children.

 Holidays and Special Events:

Fellowship, fun, and friendships are developed during our special events including our annual Easter Egg Hunt and Halloween Carnival. These fun activities encourage growth as a church family and outreach for our neighbors.

Children’s Sunday:

Once a year, the children have an opportunity to lead the morning worship service. Children sing, read Scripture, pray, collect the offering, and share testimonies. Their leadership helps us encounter God in fresh ways.

 Kids Disciple Now Retreat (D-Now):

All Kindergarten through 5th grade students are invited to participate in our annual Kids Disciple Now Retreat in the spring. The retreat is an overnight, local retreat. We spend the night in the church and have Bible studies, games, crafts, and missions.
